RTS Link
Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System Link
Just Tell Me
The RTS Link is a cross-border rail project connecting Woodlands North in Singapore with Bukit Chagar in Johor Bahru.
Also called: Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System Link, JB–Singapore RTS Link, Rapid Transit System Link
Explain Like I’m Five
Think of a train connection across the border, with one station on each side. It is designed to give Singapore–JB travellers another way across and ease Causeway congestion. It connects with Singapore’s MRT at Woodlands North but is a separate rail system.

How It Works
The planned arrangement puts both countries’ border-clearance facilities at the departure station. Passengers clear Singapore and Malaysian immigration before boarding, rather than repeating immigration clearance on arrival.
Where You’ll Run Into It
In discussions about commuting from JB, Woodlands North station and future cross-border travel.
The North–South Corridor is another project mentioned in northern Singapore transport news, but concerns roads, buses, walking and cycling rather than this cross-border train.
Example
“Once the RTS opens, could we change trains at Woodlands North?”
They are discussing the connection between the Thomson-East Coast Line and the separate cross-border service.
The Part People Get Wrong
It is not simply an MRT ride with no border checks. As of this page’s update, passenger service has not started; testing, safety certification and regulatory approvals remain necessary. Check LTA’s latest announcements before planning a trip around it.
